May Lily Bee sketch- Play All Day

When I have time to scrap for "me", one of the first things I do is pick a certain collection or line of paper that I want to work with, and then go scope out that manufacturer's blog for challenges. Not only do I find some inspiration, I usually end up putting a dent in my stash, too!

The bright orange frisbee in my photo immediately reminded me of the bright orange paper of the Pinwheel collection from Lily Bee, so I worked with this month's sketch from the Lily Bee blog and a mix of their latest "Pinwheel" and "Sweet Shoppe" collections.

My dog is so photogenic!  :)  She always has her Frisbee in tow and just wants to play all day.  She would go until she passed out if she could!

I don't usually work with photos this large (or if I do, there is usually only one of them) so I kept my page fairly simple. I have to tell you that I spent about 30 minutes just picking out which patterns and colors I wanted to use on my page!  There are so many great ones in these collections!

I stuck closely to the design of the sketch, except I changed it to two larger photos (although you can see behind the photos I still stitched the four squares. I even dug into my stash and found some older Lily Bee products to use on my page, too (the journaling card and the chipboard buttons).

It feels so good to get back to the challenges and designing that I love since I have some more "me" scrappy time now!  :)

Stay scrappy my friends!

Life Under a Rock...

Charlotte has been spending HOURS this spring lifting up rocks and digging in the dirt in our gardens in search of WORMS.  She also finds lots of other bugs, which for some reason, she calls "squigs"...I have no idea where she got that word from, but I love it!  :)

I used this weeks sketch from Skissedilla.  I was inspired so do some stamping (which I don't do enough of) and ink splattering and painting on the background.  I kept the design simple to focus on the photos.

I had to use something brown and squiggly to remind me of worms, and this twine from Lawn Fawn was perfect!  The other embellies are from Pebbles Lakeside collection and LYB Naturals collection (which was given to me by a sweet lady by the name of Lisa Swift!  :) ).

Playing Catch Up! A bunch of pages to share!

So I have not been a good blogger over the past 2 months or so.  For a while there, I had SOOOO much going on here on the blog, and then I just got kinda burnt out.  But my mojo is back and I am ready to share!    I am not going to go into as much detail as I normally do, but I am gonna share a bit of info here and there!

Here's a few from some Crate Paper lines.  The first and third pages were based on sketches I created which you can see in my SKETCH tab above.  The 2nd and 4th were based on sketches at My Scraps & More.

This page used the DIY shop, which was just awesome for a back to school theme with the letters, numbers, and the colors!

The larger green circle on the right I heat embossed with an alphabet stamp and some green embossing powder.

Here's another simple school one.  I used some Crate Paper Party Day and DIY shop.  Again, both have great colors for school photos!  I have a few bits of Basic Grey things in there, too, from the Fact & Fiction collections.

Love this one!  Also from Party Day collection.  We made breakfast cookies out of bananas and oatmeal...thats it!  Look up the recipe on Pinterest...it's pretty good!

Finally, a page with lots more Crate goodies, from all the lines mentioned above.  This little guy will sometimes sneak grape tomatoes off the counter and eat them.  I don't mind him eating them, but I hate that they are not cut up!  That scares me...:)

I love the gold accents in almost all of these lines!

OK, more catching up to do in a few days!  Have a great Memorial Day weekend and stay scrappy my friends!

Mother's Day and Reelin'

I lost my mojo these past few weeks.  I have been so busy with other things around the house, and even outside the house now that the weather is nice!  So I  just let my slump take it course until I felt the urge to scrap again.  And there's nothin' better to get me out of a rut then a few great challenges!

First, as a huge fan of Diana's sketches, I tackled the sketch for Scrapbook Circle and Lily Bee this month!  I dug into my April and May Scrapbook Circle kits, and mixed them up a bit to scrap these photos that have been laying in my "to do" pile for almost a year!  Charlotte is going to be quite the fisherwoman....she gets it from her grandma and me!  :)

I started by giving a whitewash on the background with gesso, then using a splatter stencil and some blue mist.  The blue came out a bit too dark, so I went over again with some white gesso and I like the way it turned out!   I stuck pretty closely to the sketch, but added one more large circle on the bottom right to balance out my page.  The circles are stitched with yellow thread.

The tulle ribbon in the kit reminded me a bit of fit netting, so I used a bit of it under my photo and held it down with the Maggie Holmes washi paper.  The title alphas are some AC mistables ones from my stash that I misted in navy to match the papers.

And the sketch by Diana:

A few weeks ago I won the new "Find Your Wings and Fly" collection from MME on their blog during their release announcement.  They are VERY generous with their prizes.  While on their blog recently, I came across the sketch challenge for May with a sketch by Ronda Pallizari.  I LOVE this sketch!

These photos of Mother's Day were on my to do list, and I thought the floral prints of the papers were perfect for the theme!

We actually had Charlotte's birthday party on Mother's Day.  I had been in such a tizzy trying to get everything ready for the party, that I forgot it was even Mother's Day.  When my mom arrived, she looked at me and said "Happy Mother's Day!  But I feel so bad...I didn't get you anything!".  I said, "I MUST be your daughter, because I didn't get you anything, either!".  But she did teach me to be a great mom, and I gave her an awesome granddaughter, so we're even!

I love the grid design of the sketch, but I wanted to use two photos, so I changed it up a bit to accommodate my photos and a journaling area.

I had fun using lots of bits of paper, washi tape, chipboard elements, buttons, and enamel dots!  I added a few splatters of white paint in the background, too.

And the sketch from Ronda:

SOOO glad my mojo is back!!  I have a ton of projects to share that I haven't posted over the last month, so this blog is going to get busy the end of this month!

Stay scrappy my friends!

Dress Up Time-GCD Pure Bliss

If I have to pick a new favorite collection from GCD, this might be it! (Although I think I said that with the last collection I worked with, too! :) )

The pinks and florals in this line really got me in the mood to do something girly, and since my daughter LOVES to dress up all the time, I thought these photos would be perfect!

I started with a pink background and wanted to add some texture. I was inspired by her tulle skirts, so I just bunched up some tulle on the page, glued it in some spots that wouldn't show the glue, and then machine stitched over it in some areas.

I splattered some yellow paint and a bit of grey mist here and there, and also misted my alphas yellow to match.  You will also see a glimmer of some sequins here and there!

I like to balance out my design with something going off the edge of the page somewhere.  Here is a little cluster with paper, a sticker, and a brad.

And what else could be more girly than bows?  I love seeing the paper bow trend popping up on pages now!  I found a free template online and used it to create these little bows, which were very easy to make!

Pink, tulle, sequins, and bows....what could be more girly than that???  :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

What You Missed....

In April, I was so excited to have my first online class through My Scraps & More.  The "Lots of Layers" class was 4 weeks long.  Each week there was a new video, a sketch with directions, and a place to discuss the techniques and share your creations. The class came with a custom embellishment kit that I designed including a stencil and other handmade goodies.  I worked with a pre-selected set of papers and embellies that was given as a supply list at the beginning of the class so that people could purchase it if they wanted.

Although I can't share the sketches and the videos, I wanted to share the pages that I made for the class!

The first week we focused on "Peek A Boo" layers....creating layers in which you can see other layers below.

The 2nd class we learned different techniques on how to use the stencil that came in the kit (the "spoke" pattern).

The 3rd class we used a pocket or envelope to hold some goodies.

And the last class we focused on using basic shapes on your pages.

I really  really enjoyed seeing all the creations from this class!  The ladies seriously rocked their pages!!!

I will be offering another class in June at My Scraps & More, although, this one will be a self paced class with step by step  photos and only 1 video.  The class will showcase 3-4 layouts and an altered project (still working on that!).  Stay tuned to my blog for more details!

Heidi Sonboul Signature Series Blog Hop!!!

 photo HeidiSonboulSignatureSeries.jpg

Welcome to Heidi's blog hop, celebrating the release of her new Signature Series Book, her two new collections from GCD Studios, AND her new Website!!  I am so honored to be a part of this hop and so excited for the release of Heidi's book!  Of course, I am also in love with her two new paper collections, too: Sunkissed and Special Delivery.

I created this page using the Sunkissed collection.  The papers with the waves and water swirls was perfect for these photos of my kiddos at a fish exhibit at the zoo.  I love the photo of my daughter with her hand on my son's head.  She was trying to show him the fish...

Inspired by the fish idea, I added some circles to my design, and some machine stitching in wavy lines.  I kept to a color combo that complimented my photos, and added in a bit of the peach and yellow for contrast.

I played around a lot with the border strips, and cut them and layered them as accents on my page.

To see some more wonderful inspiration from the Special Delivery and Sunkissed collections, hop along through the blogs below!  There are lots of RAKS to be won!
